These bamboo roman shades are fabricated using matchstick bamboo, bamboo slats, rattan, jute, grass, reeds, and woven woods. All natural yet environmentally friendly, you will be able to add an earthy rustic appeal to any room of your home with these window treatments.

Cleaning of our bamboo window blinds is a snap; use a common feather duster to swipe over the slats for removing dust. If you feel the need for heavier cleaning, you can use a brush attachment for the vacuum cleaner to sweep over the slats. Be careful not to expose these exotic bamboo window shades to too much moisture unless it is weather treated as it can damage the finish of the shade. Also, never use household cleaners or citrus based cleansers on these discount bamboo blinds because those types of cleaners are too harsh.

To keep prices extremely reasonable on this line we offer limited options; however, if you prefer versatility, see our Platinum, Signature and Designer bamboo shades that offer edge banding, top-down control, and many other features. 90+ styles in all.

These shades are just what we needed for our screened-in porch to help with the sun and also at night when the big night watcher lights come on. We have loved everything we get from Payless Decor.

Questions & Answers

Ask a Question
Question:

When installing these shades on a large window...about 70wide x 60 length, do you have to use a center support? This is a palladium window, so the center part, above the shade is glass and window frame. Would I be able to mount this on each side?

Answer:

Yes, for shades over 45" wide we recommend (and provide) a center support.

Question:

any top down bottom up bamboo shade?

Answer:

Hi, not in the premium line, but we do have top-down bottom-up in the Platinum lines. You can find them here: http://www.paylessdecor.com/Bamboo-Shades/Payless-Decor-Platinum-I-Collection-Woven-Wood-Blinds.asp

Question:

What is the color in the picture on the website.

Answer:

We highly recommend you order samples or all of our products and not go by any pictures, as lighting and color monitor may play a factor. The bamboo shown is Dali Natural.

Question:

I am curious about the black out liner and the privacy liner. I can't seem to locate either on the web site, even though I follow the instructions...

Answer:

Here is more description on the two: Privacy Liner - prevents visibility through the shade while allowing light in. It is white street-side and blind-side. Any shade over 54" for both width and height will have a seam. A blackout liner is great for a bedroom or home-entertainment room. Without adding a liner to your shade direct sunlight will come into your room. A blackout liner will not let light through your shade. Our liners are ivory facing the shade with a white backing that faces the street. We attach our liners by placing very small plastic tabs through the back of the liner offering better durability than glue and less impact to the front of the shade than when they are sewn. Any shade over 54" for both width and height will have a seam.

Question:

When the shades are pulled up, do they hang below the valance in their folded up state? If so, how far? This would help me determine how high I'd like to put the brackets. My shades will be 50" long.

Answer:

There is a variance in how far they hang down. The valance is about 7 1/4". A 50" long shade likely hangs down between even and 3" beyond the valance.

Question:

without the liner do these shades offer privacy at night when they are down? If not which liner would provide that?

Answer:

Unfortunately not. If you need privacy, I would suggest you order a privacy or blackout liner option.

Question:

Does your bamboo roman shades come in Green/Ivory Bamboo color?

Answer:

There are some shades that have a greeneish tint and others that have an ivory tint. Generally we would recommend you take a look at the pictures, and if there are some that are close -- order some free samples so you can take a look in person. Thanks!

Question:

I previously ordred in 2010 Premium Bamboo Shades #40073650 Width:22 1/2" Length 56" and am needing 'black-out' liners (2) (lift cord-right) Please e-mail me and let me know!

Answer:

Are you seeking new shades, or are you looking to retro-fit your old shades? Unfortunately we cannot retro-fit old shades with a liner. You can purchase liners to add-onto your shades on Amazon I believe. You also may want to consider a curtain to overlay your shades or a blackout roller shade.

Question:

What does the +20% mean when it is behind some of the color choices?

Answer:

Some of the colors are 20% more expensive than the others. So if you choose them, you will notice that the price will increase 20%.

Question:

Are your premium bamboo shades lined?

Answer:

No, they do not come lined. However there is the option of a privacy liner (light-filtering) or blackout liner (room darkening) for this product.

Question:

How many inches do we allow for the header? For shades at an 84 inch length, what would the length be when the shade was fully raised?

Answer:

Please measure from where you want the shade to start, this will include header. When shade is fully raised, valance is 6.5 inches and there may be between 4-6 additional "final" fold of the bamboo underneath the header. Let's say 10 - 14".

Question:

will these shades block the hot sun that comes into the kitchen in the afternoon?

Answer:

Yes, the bamboo is an excellent shade to diffuse direct sunlight. However, it is not black out. We do have liners available in your choice of privacy or blackout.

Question:

Is there a place on your website where I can see the premium blinds with the privacy shade vs. the blackout shade?

Answer:

As for asthetics, the blackout and privacy liner are look almost exactly the same. There is a slight variation on opacity which you may detect, but for this product, they are both white in color. The main difference is in the property of each. The privacy liner will give you additional privacy so the shades cannot be seen through, and they will filter light into the room. You will still have shadows and silhouettes. The blackout liner will be opaque and will not filter any light into the room. They are typically used in a bedroom to provide optimum light control.

Question:

I need bamboo for the interior full-lite porch door....not for the outside. the question is if you make them for full-lite inside porch door....do they fasten at the bottom of the door so they don't swing when opening and closing the door.

Answer:

The Premium Bamboo shades can certainly be mounted on a door. You would measure the exact area you cover and choose "Outside Mount" when you select your mount type. We do not offer a hold down bracket option because a bracket would damage the natural woven woods, but I can recommend a heavy duty double stick Velcro to hold the bottom of the shade in place. Many of our customers have recommended using that in the past. That can be purchased at a local craft or hardware store.

Question:

I have a double patio door from my dining room to my deck and gardens. I currently have vertical blinds but would like to try something else...was considering bamboo panels, but is there anything else? I was sondering if there was something that would fit right into the patio window (1/2 inch deep) like a shade instead?

Answer:

Unfortunately you do not have enough depth for the Bamboo Sliding Panels, but you do have enough depth for the Premium Bamboo shades. Our customers frequently order these shades to go in a doorway or on patio doors. Typically, since the width will be much wider than the max width we offer, you will order two shades to fit into that space. This will allow for easier operation of the shades and gives you that updated look you desire.

Question:

are these blinds made to be used outdoor on a screen in deck?

Answer:

They are made for indoor usage only. They are not weather treated.

Question:

I am going to be ordering a bamboo blind for my kitchen window. When mounting the bracket for an inside installation,do you mount to the inside side of the frame or the back of the frame or do you have the option to do either? I looked at the printed directions and am a bit confused. Thanks!!

Answer:

The mounting brackets are flexible, so for an inside mount you would have the ability to mount to the sides of the window recess or the top. They also could be used to mount to the back of the window recess, but for an inside mount this would be unusual.

Question:

I need bamboo shades that are top down. Do you have any that fit this specification?

Answer:

Currently our Premium Bamboo Shades do not come in Top-Down as an options. However, if you are interested in Top-down, or top-down bottom up, take a look at our Designer or Signature lines that do have this option available.

Question:

Are these cordless, if not do you have cordless bamboo roman shades?

Answer:

Unfortunately, we do not offer the cordless option on our Bamboo Shades. You may want to consider some other products like our cellular shades which offer the cordless feature as an option.

Question:

What is Roman style of roll type on shade? Do you have an option of roll pull rather than pull cord? I can't reach the pull cord over the counter.

Answer:

Roman style is the classic and elegant way bamboo shades are raised and lowered. They go up and down in a roman style fold which provides the greatest ease of use and the best functionality for your window treatment. As for roll pull, it sounds like you are referring to a continuous cord loop known as "Rollease". Rollease means the cord will always stay the same length regardless of shade position and makes lowering and raising the shade easier. That is an option on our Designer and Signature Bamboo Shades.

Question:

Do you carry bamboo shades that can insulate well; I have a patio door and am not sure how to measure for the shades Inside dimension is 95 X 79...

Answer:

In general there may be better options than Bamboo if insulation is your main consideration. However, to maximize insulation on a bamboo shade you will want to choose a blackout liner to minimize airflow from your window. For a patio door, the bamboo look is a key priority, I would consider the bamboo shades with a blackout liner or bamboo sliding panels (http://www.paylessdecor.com/Bamboo-Sliding-Panels/Bamboo-Sliding-Panels.asp) As for you question regarding measurement, measurement depends on the window treatment you choose and whether you want inside or outside mount. Here is a link to a section on how to measure, and let me know if you have other questions I can help you with: http://www.paylessdecor.com/measuring-guide.asp.

Question:

what is the difference in the privacy liner & the black out liner in terms of material and thickness? Is the material available in different colors? I'm looking at ordering the New Guinea Bamboo Shade with a liner.

Answer:

Blackout liner is opaque so no light comes though and is slightly thicker. A privacy liner does not have holes, so on a sunny day you will see the warmth of the sun, or on the outside one might see shadows. On the premium bamboo shades, only white is available. If you desire another color, please take a look at our Signature Bamboo Shades.

Question:

Are these "natural bamboo" color of the thin type roll up type?

Answer:

Hi, we don't know exactly the type you are comparing to, so your best bet would be to get a free sample to see if it is what you require. Free samples can be ordered here: http://www.paylessdecor.com/free-samples.asp

Question:

Looking for 94 inch WIDE bamboo roman shade. Large Anderson window in front of house---could use 4 blinds but would prefer the look of ONE.

Answer:

Our premium-line bamboo does not have widths that large. However, I recommend you look in our platinum product line. (Click here: http://www.paylessdecor.com/Bamboo-Shades/Payless-Decor-Platinum-I-Collection-Woven-Wood-Blinds.asp) It has widths up to 96". In addition, I recommend that you add a rollease clutch, that will make lifting and lowering the shade easier.

Question:

What does edge binding refer to? And it is necessary on the bamboo shades? I am ready to submit my order but was unsure if this was needed.

Answer:

The edge binding is a decorative fabric trim that will be applied to the edges of the blind. It is purely a decorative option and not necessary when ordering. Most of our shades are sold without this feature, but you can utilize it if you wanted to set off a focal color in the room such as red or green.

Question:

I am ordering the java vintage bamboo shade 36 wide by 80 long. When they are all the way up, how many inches will still be showing on the window?

Answer:

While we do not have exact figures on stack height, it will be approximately 14" long when fully raised at 80" in drop length.

Question:

Ready to order several bamboo blinds. What tupe of hardware is included with the blinds? Will I need to purchase additional hardwRe (beyond screw drivers and such) in order to mount the blinds? Thank you!

Answer:

All mounting hardware-brackets, dry wall anchors, screws, cord cleat-and full instructions on how to hang the blinds are included. You will not need to purchase anything additional beyond a screw driver or drill.

Question:

I have an extera large window in my living room, 108 inches(w) x 60 (t). Do you have anything this size?

Answer:

We don't have that wide of a width in a single shade in our Premium Bamboo collection. However, you can order two shades to fit within that space and mount them closely together. That will allow you to still choose from the beautiful colors in this collection and cut down on the headrail strain. If you were able to get a single headrail that wide, you would find that it will be almost impossible to move that shade up and down in a smooth motion due to the overall weight. If you must have a single headrail, you may want to consider our Platinum Bamboo Sliding Panels since those are available in wider widths. They are produced on a track system which will allow for greater weight. Here is a link: https://www.paylessdecor.com/Bamboo-Sliding-Panels/Bamboo-Sliding-Panels.asp.

Question:

hello - do you sell weather resistant bamboo shades for a screened porch?

Answer:

No, our bamboo shades are for indoor use only. None of the bamboo is weather resistant, so they will mold or rot if exposed to any type of outdoor elements, even on a screened porch.
