If you have trouble sleeping at night, you might want to take a look at your bedroom. While you may think that your interior design is perfectly suitable for drifting away to sleep, there may be flaws in your decor that are keeping you from getting some shut-eye. Here are a few tips on how to transform your bedroom from dreary to cozy.

1. Use the right window treatments.
You'll sleep better if you don't have to worry about light flooding into your bedroom from your windows. Ideally, you should be sleeping in a space with as little sunlight (or moonlight) as possible to encourage melatonin production.

Finding the right discount window treatments can make all the difference when it comes to getting a good night's rest. Look for opaque blinds and shades to create a dark environment that caters to sleeping.

2. Invest in quality sheets. recommends spending a few extra bucks and buying sheets with a higher thread count to give yourself the softness you're looking for when you snuggle. Not only can the right sheets keep you warm and comfortable, but they can help you drift off to sleep quicker than you would with cheap linens.

On a similar note, consider looking for a cozy comforter as well to help you rest easily. Down comforters are perfect for those who enjoy plushness.

3. Look for enticing scents.
You may have heard of people spritzing a bit of lavender water on their pillows before bed to fall asleep easier, and this concept is one that's worth exercising throughout your bedroom. The Independent recommends bringing in incense or candles that have sweet scents to relax your mind and make you feel more comfortable in your living space. Lavender and chamomile are both great soothing scents to consider.

4. Eliminate distractions.
Many people find that they can't do without having a television in the bedroom, but this item can easily deter a good night's rest. It's best to eliminate anything that can cause a distraction - cell phone, computer, television - to focus on getting some sleep on a nightly basis.

You might think you're an insomniac, but the truth of the matter may be that your bedroom could use a little makeover. These tips can help you transform your room into a calm, welcoming haven that you look forward to spending time in regularly.
