You don’t have to be a licensed Interior Decorator to know that how you “dress” or “treat” your windows is a vital part of your room’s décor. Whether the windows are in your home or your office, you want your windows to be as stylish, yet as comfortable, as the rest of the room. Window blinds are a great tool in achieving that style and comfort, vertical blinds especially.
Vertical blinds are an excellent alternative to their horizontal counterparts, which are generally the more common of the two.
While vertical blinds are just as effective as horizontal blinds, they can have a much difference appearance. Vertical blinds are slat blinds, with the difference being that the slats hang up and down, or vertical. These blinds still have the capability of having the slats rotated to increase or decrease the amount of light entering a room.
Instead of the blinds being raised or lowered like horizontal blinds, vertical blinds are opened and closed from to side-to-side. Some people say that vertical blinds are superior to horizontal blinds because the slats on vertical blinds can be closed more tightly, thus giving you better control over how much light is let in.
The fact that the slats open and close from right to left, rather than from top to bottom makes them more suitable to windows that are wider rather than taller.
As with any other type of window blind, vertical blinds can be found in many different materials with the most common being metal, plastic and fabric. Again, as will other styles of blinds, the vertical variety is also available in an array of colors so you won’t have any problems matching your vertical blinds to the rest of your décor.
