 A window blind is a type of decorative window treatment that serves a number of different purposes. This type of window treatment is created with many different types of materials including fabric, wood, vinyl and aluminum. The two most common varieties of blinds are slats and solid blinds. The slat style of window treatments have thin strips of material that hang horizontally between cords. The slats can be rotated to allow varying amounts of light to enter a room. A slat blind can also be raised and lowered to allow the homeowner to see outside the window. Solid blinds are constructed from a single piece of material and can only be raised and lowered. One very popular style of solid blind is the Roman shade.
