Light gap per side of the shade - on a roller shade the roller/heading is always larger in width than the fabric. Thus, when you order please make sure that the width of the fabric, and the resulting light-gap will be acceptable:

Standard (cordless/chain) – 9/16” light gap per side of shade
With Cassette valance – 11/16” light gap per side of shade

Depth considerations:

minimum depth without valance cassette is 2 ¼”, flush depth without valance cassette is 3”
minimum depth with small cassette is 1 ¾”, flush depth with small cassette is = 7/8”
minimum depth with large cassette is 2 ¼”, flush depth with =arge cassette is 4 1/8”

This shade is perfect for screen porches. It blocks 85-90% of the sun rays when down which ultimately keeps the porch cooler. It also provides a certain amount of privacy. I would recommend this shade to anyone who has a screen porch that takes on direct sunlight.

can the out door advantage roll shades be used as a tub/shower shade?

Answer:

Yes. Since this product is water-proof, we see no reason why you cannot use the Advantage Outdoor roller shade in this particular application.

Do outdoor solar shades that face west insulate well or are they more for sun than hard winter weather

Answer:

Our Advantage Exterior Solar Shades are not designed to insulate. They are simply designed to be used outdoors and can withstand the elements. We do offer a few "blackout" color selections if you are looking to block out the sun. The colors will say "blackout" in the color name.

I am looking for a roll up shade that will block out the rain.Porch faces the west and whenn ever it rains hard the porch gets wet. The size I am looking for is about 9 foot long

These shades are perfect for outdoor use as they are weather treated to withstand the elements. They are available in widths up to 144" and heights up to 96".

Im looking for an ourdoor shade that also provides privacy. can you see through these at night?

Answer:

Right now, all of the outdoor solar roller fabrics will be see through to a degree because they all have an openness factor. Here are the specs for each pattern as some are more open than others: Hopsack has a 10% openness and is 80% PVC/ 20% Polyester Striae has 5% openness and is 25% Polyester-75% vinyl Tabby has 5% openness and is 25% Polyester-75% vinyl There are also small light gaps on either side of the roller fabric that also need consideration when you are ordering. Here is what you can expect on the deductions for inside and outside mount: Light gap per side of the shade - on a roller shade the roller/heading is always larger in width than the fabric. What controls are in place to minimize the impact of wind moving the blinds around the room?

Answer:

This particular product does not come with hold down brackets; however, in the past our customers have reported great success in using a heavy duty double stick velcro to secure the bottom rail of the shades. You can purchase that at any local craft store. You would just place a small strip along the bottom of the shade and then another piece along the window sill and this should work beautifully to keep the shade from moving in the wind.

Question:

How well do these shades resist fading due to the sun? I would probably go with the brown shades, and they would get afternoon western sun exposure from about 2pm on.

Answer:

We have not experienced any issues due to fading on this product. They are weather resistant so they are made to hold up against the elements, including sun exposure.
