Safety is our Priority!

Are you looking to purchase new blinds but are concerned about the safety of "Little Jonnie" who loves to play with everything? Well, we at Payless Décor want to make sure that safety is a priority. Here are a couple of products I recommend that add a touch of style to your home décor while offering safety features that help keep your little ones safe.

Our cellular shades give a pleasing look to your home décor while offering the cordless option which will keep young children safe from hazardous situations. They come in a variety of styles and options from single and double cell construction to “Duofold” which gives you the “top down/bottom up” capability. Another bonus is that are cellular shades are designed from a durable 100% non-woven polyester fabric which insulates windows against cold air drafts. This saves you money through improved energy efficiency in the home.

Our roller shades are another product to consider being that “cordless” comes standard. They are so easy to use that a child can operate them. Simply give the shade a slight tug to open and pull them down to close. The spring mechanism will stop the shade at the length you specify. Our roller shades are also customizable with a number of options from decorative hem styles to the cassette system. The cassette system is a great option which covers the rolled up shade with a decorative valance.

Don’t stop short at just our cellular and roller shades. We keep safety in mind with all of our products by including cord cleats at no charge so you can safely tie the excess cord away from children. If you select the cord-loop or continuous cord options, you can request tensioners which will alleviate all slack in the cord. This works to help prevent children from getting tangled in the cord.

If you have any questions about our products, feel free to contact us so that we can help you choose the best option for your home décor needs.

Happy Shopping!

Bathroom Window Treatments

BATHROOM WINDOW TREATMENTS

Choosing an appropriate bathroom window treatment is not a simple task. It requires creativity and attention to the entire setting to enhance the beauty of the room. Finding suitable bathroom window treatment(s) is part of the decorating process, contributing to the overall appearance of the room.

Draperies and Curtains

The drapery is considered a more sophisticated bathroom window treatment, suitable for bathrooms of more generous dimensions, with special furniture and accessories. Draperies require more wall space around the window.  Drapery panels are not retractable in the same way as other window treatments are and that is why they require more space. The majestic and fabulous look is more appealing for very large bathrooms.

Curtains have some advantages compared to other types of bathroom window treatments. If you are seeking inexpensive versatility, curtains are lightweight and can be easily suspended/removed from a rod with rings, tabs or rod-pocket casing.

Shades are a great solution for a bathroom window treatment being that they can be easily raised or lowered. There are various types of shades that can be used for the bathroom, from our custom pleated shades, fabric roman shades, to our simple roll-up shades.

Shutters are another nice option for your bathroom window treatment, as they offer more possibilities than simple curtains.  They can cover a window from top to bottom or only the bottom part of the window. .

Blinds are still considered the most popular category of bathroom window treatment, due to their versatility and affordability. Blinds are excellent for spaces where light control or privacy is highly important. This makes them perfect for bathroom windows. You have many possibilities to choose from with several options, vertical blinds with up and down slats (pvc or fabric), and blinds with horizontal slats. Blinds are usually made of vinyl, wood, faux wood, aluminum.

Tips for a Better Choice

The dimensions of the bathroom are very important as this aspect will determine a better choice. Larger spaces look great with draperies and curtains while small bathrooms require other solutions. If you want to give even more of an effect with your window treatment(s), shorter curtains could give your bathroom a bold statement.

The dimensions of the bathroom windows also play an important role in the choice of suitable bathroom window treatments. The general tendency of smaller windows in the bathroom makes blinds, shutters, or shades more suitable than draperies and curtains.

Roman Shade 2009 Voluntary Recall
By seth
12/17/2009 8:36:00 AM

Shade and Blind safety has been an important topic for the last 10 years. Within the Window Treatment industry, we strive to constantly make our product safer and offer more utility to our customers. On December 15, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the Window Covering Safety Council (WCSC) are announcing today a voluntary recall to repair all Roman shades. To view this release click here.

What this recall means, is that anyone who purchased a Roman Shade from Payless Decor is eligible for a retro-kit to make his/her Roman Shades cordless and child-safe. Click here to access and order this kit.

If you have a young child and are considering a window treatment optiion, we strongly urge you to consider a cordless option.

9/16" Cellular Shades

3/8" Double Cellular Shades

1/2" Cordless Cellular Shades

3/4" Cordless Cellular Shades

3/4" Cordless Blackout Cellular Shades

Premium Roller Shades

However, if you do want a corded option, Payless Decor's products adhere to the latest safety regulations: All blinds have multiple cords standard (as opposed to loops) and cord cleats to tie the cords away from children. For blinds and shades with a cord-loop or continuous cord, we offer tension tie-down devices so that the cords can be pulled taut.

If you have any questions feel free to contact us so that we can help you choose the option that is right for you. And if you are a previous customer and have lost your cord cleat or tension device let us know so we can work to get you one.

Sincerely,

The Payless Decor Team
