Vertical Blind Measuring & Ordering Instructions

Selecting the Type of Mounting:
Determine whether the blind is going to be installed inside the window frame or outside the window
frame.

Inside Mount (IB):
Inside mount installations are often preferred because the blinds take up less space in the room.

Measuring the Width and the Length for Inside Mount:
For the width, measure across the top, middle, and bottom of the window opening.  Using the
narrowest dimension, measure to the nearest 1/8”.  By using the narrowest measurement the blind will
operate correctly.

For the length, measure the up and down dimension on the left, center, and right side.  Use the shortest
length measurement, measuring to the nearest 1/8”.

The factory will make any appropriate deductions.  Do not make any width or length deductions.

Outside Mount (OB):
Outside mount installations are mounted on the wall or on the window molding.  It is best to overlap
the window opening at least 3” on each side when measuring for vertical blinds.

Measuring the Width and the Length for Outside Mount:
Measure the area that the blind is to cover.  For vertical blinds it is recommended to overlap the
window opening by at least 3” on each side for a total of 6”.  To allow for enough space for the
mounting brackets, it is also suggested that a vertical blind be installed at least 3” above the window
opening.

Note:  When outside mount blinds are specified, no factory deductions are taken.

Confirming Measurements:
The most common error in ordering blinds is reversing the width and the length measurements.
Always confirm that the width is the measurement that goes across from left to right and that the
length is the measurement that goes from top to bottom.

Questions & Answers

Ask a Question
Question:

What size are the slats? We are looking for 2.5 inches. Thanks

Answer:

Unfortunately all of our vertical blind products have 3 1/2" slats. If you are open to considering horizontal blinds, we do have 2.5" Designer Basswood Blinds. I have enclosed a link below... https://www.paylessdecor.com/Wood-Blinds/Payless-Decor-25-Designer-Bass-Wood-Blinds.asp

Question:

I am installing verticals inside 33 1/2" x 69". Can i split the blind? Also does stacking mean the way they tilt open? Can I still tilt them all at once when split? -Thank You Richie

Answer:

Yes! You can choose "center opening" for your stack direction if you would like the blinds to split from the center. "Stacking" means where the slats rest when they are open. You can choose stack left, right, or center opening. When they are open, you are still able to operate the tilt control if necessary.

Question:

I am going to order inside mount verticals in size 59 wide by 34 l/4 high can I get these to open in the middle or do I have to have them go all to one side?

Answer:

Yes you can! Simply select "split" for your stack direction when placing an order. That means blind will open from the center.

Question:

LOOKING FOR A COMBO OF VERTICAL BLINDS. 144"X72"----48"X48"----36"X36"

Answer:

You can order these separately as we do have each of these sizes that you can customize in this collection. The minimum width is 12" and max width is 191". As for height, the minimum height is 12" and the max height is 144".

Question:

What are the dimensions of the headrail for these verticals? I need the spec for depth and height please.

Answer:

The depth requirement for a flush fit on these is 4 1/2". You will need at least 2" of flat space to mount the bracket. For more details, please see our Measuring Guide here: http://www.paylessdecor.com/measuring-guide.asp
