This is a soft shade that combines light control capabilities of a horizontal blind with the soft beauty of a fabric shade. Simply adjust the panels to achieve the soft translucence of a sheer, or privacy. They can finish the look of a decorated bedroom or any room in the house where you need a soft look. Please note that if you are looking for something similar to the brand 'silhouette', that this is different than that or other sheer shades in that it does not have a 'vane' in the middle - we highly recommend you request a sample to view the fabric.

1/4" Deduction taken on the headreail for inside mounts. No deduction on an outside mount.
Fabric/shade is always 1 1/2" less in width than the headrail. So for a window that is 24" that you want to cover for an outside mount, you would need to order the shade at 25 1/2".

At night, when pulled down, if you were outside, could you see through them to the inside?

Answer:

No, you cannot see through the shade when it is closed. They are designed to provide you privacy when fully closed. Since these are light filtering, you will still have shadows and silhouettes but you cannot see through them.

Are they built and or recommended for frequent use comparable to a standard roller shade or blind

Answer:

I need white color do you have this???

Answer:

What size are the veins between the sheer fabric?

Answer:

These shades are different than the most common brand on the market, silhouette. They do not have a vane in the middle. Rather there are two pieces of fabric around a roller that can provide an open and closed look. But to answer your question, the sheer stripe is 2” and the non-sheer stripe is 3”. We highly recommend that you request a free sample to take a look. The other sheer shades, such as our Premium Sheer Shades (http://www.paylessdecor.com/Sheer-Shades/Payless-Decor-Premium-Sheer-Shades.asp) offer a vane between the sheer fabrics and may be more of what you are seeking.

Does it provide insulation from cold weather

what is the absolute minimum depth for the 2" sheer shade product? I've got 1 3/4". thanks

Answer:

is the space between the fabric panels sheer?

Answer:

Yes, it is sheet between each fabric slat.

Question:

I have samples of Sheer Shades-Ivory.....now I see there is Lt Filtering and Room Darkening. Before I reorder a sample, can you explain how sheer shades can also be 'room darkening'? Thanks.

Answer:

When all of the vanes are lined up within a room darkening sheer shade, the solid portion of the fabric is totally opaque. It will not allow light to filter into the room. During daylight hours though, you can adjust them so that the sheer portions line up and let light into the room.

Question:

What is the purpose of the support, hold down and extension brackets? Are they included in the price? Are there other standard brackets that come with the shades?

Answer:

These brackets come with the shade at no additional price. Hold down brackets are used if you want to hold the bottom rail in place, so that it will not move. This is typically only used in an outside mount application on a door. Extension brackets are used on outside mounts to provide additional space between the shade and the mounting surface. Support brackets will support the center of a large width blind.

Question:

how easily are they to clean? who makes these blinds? similar to Hunter Douglas Allure Transitional shades? I think they have an even space between darker and clear stripes

Answer:

This type of blind can only be cleaned using a feather duster or soft cloth for dusting. They are similar to the Silhouette shades, but they are not connected when you look at the shades from the side. The spacing between each stripe is even, about 2" apart.
